As a solo free surfer, every summer I always end up stopping my surf sessions because I get thirsty.
So this year, I had the idea to design a lycra rashguard with a built-in hydration pack, inspired by mountain bike hydration systems, because I couldn’t find any model made specifically for surfers — especially one that doesn’t get in the way while paddling.
Based on my tests, I found that there is no discomfort at all, and even when falling on my back, the hydration pouch holds up well. I only had a bit of trouble taking it off the first time, but the second time was fine.
In addition, the lycra protects from the sun and can easily be worn on a wetsuit without any issues.
For cleaning, I remove the plastic bladder from the lycra pocket and simply rinse it with water, either in a tub or in the shower.
